Michael Russell is a Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years of technical project management experience in the areas of nuclear operations, engineering, quality assurance (QA) and compliance, regulatory/licensing support, performance improvement, construction, information technology, and software and hardware development. Michael has been supporting the nuclear power, utility, energy, waste, construction, and security industry for over 22 years. He is currently using his extensive program and procedure development experience supporting Department of Energy (DOE) facilities including the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), and the NNSA Y-12/Pantex Security Complex.
Michael supports ORNL as the lead QA Representative for the new Transformational Challenge Reactor program which integrates multiple directorates and disciplines within the DOE laboratory complex including regulatory, Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), TRISO fuel and YH Moderator development and novel reactor core design. This task included the development of over 40 plans and procedures including quality assurance program, design control, procurement, and software quality assurance.
Michael obtained his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and serves as the Strata-G Corporate Quality Assurance Manager, Director of Nuclear Services, and Subcontract Project Manager for multiple projects and personnel. Michael’s professional experience is matched by his dedication to supporting the Oak Ridge and East Tennessee communities, volunteering and serving in over 15 outreach organizations.
